My Early Years
I was destined to have a love for horses before I was even born! My mom grew up in a family with cutting horses and rode hunters. My family now runs a successful horse business which I've been blessed to be a part of all of my life. I was in my first horse show at 4 on a pony named Stormy that I still own and love today. My mom felt it was important to develop a strong seat at a young age so she had me doing hunters and jumpers until I was old enough to join our local Pony Club. I started eventing at 10 and loved the combination of the excitement of cross country, the finesse of show jumping, and the control of dressage. I was blessed to work with a phenomenal trainers along the way like Karen O'Connor and my everyday coach Julie Norman who was also a Rolex rider. Hanging out at Rolex and having the privilege of riding in events at Kentucky Horse Park cemented my love and passion for all the equine disciplines. I got my first taste of reining at a Pony Club Festival when I had the opportunity to ride some reining horses at a demonstration after the reining was added to the World Equestrian Games. Then, a couple of years later while attending Rolex I watched the World Freestyle Championships. I knew at that point that someday I wanted to give the sport a try. It combined everything that I liked in eventing without the extra risks to me and my horses!
Our Approach
Our Story
Today
After gaining a solid foundation and success in H/J, dressage, and eventing, I made the decision in the middle of 2015 to make the transition over to reining. It was scary at first to leave behind what I knew and branch out into a new world with new people and new trainers and coaches. I was blessed with a great support network, and phenomenal horses. I qualified for AQHA youth World my first year, and I took it even more seriously my second year with the addition of a futurity and derby horse. I was fortunate to be a able to ride in the NRHA Futurity, the NRBC, and the NRHA Derby and it was an experience that's hard to put into words. Being new to reining and being surrounded by and riding with the legends of the sport and people that I look up to as top riders is absolutely a dream come true. Although it was a long shot, I decided to get passports for my horses and take aim at making the World Team in 2017. My horse, Wimpys Flashy Jack, put down a solid showing at the NRBC and just like that we were qualified! Unfortunately, we just missed the cut for being selected to make the trip to Switzerland, but it's given me the confidence to know that can accomplish anything I put my mind to with hard work and dedication. I'm looking forward to continuing my growth over the coming years and taking all that I have to offer and setting my sights on the future which will hopefully include competing for a National Collegiate Championship!
Meet My Team
I definitely could not have reached this point on my own. I have been blessed with being surrounded with amazing trainers, coaches, family, and God!
Shawn Flarida
Trainer & Coach
He's a legend in the reining world, and the all time leading money earner in the sport. Shawn is not only an amazing trainer and coach, but he's a constant example of the things that are really important in life, he's a great role model and he makes me aspire to be a better rider and to be someone for the next group of kids to look up to.
Daniel Stewart
Coach
I first met Daniel at a Pony Club Festival at Kentucky Horse Park when I was just 10 years old while eventing and riding jumpers. He's not only helped WEG and Olympics Teams, and he's been an integral part of my journey growing and maturing as a rider over the last six years. He's taught clinics at our farm in Arkansas and he's always been just a Skype or FaceTime call away and is always there to listen and help give me the much needed confidence to try new things and keep everything balanced.
My Family
Lifetime Supporters
My parents had me on a horse (Stormy) before I could even walk! They've stood by and supported me in every thing I've ever wanted to do, and there's no way I could do it without them. From racing my brother in the pasture to the AEC's to NRHA Futurity's and Derby's my family has been with me every step of the way and I love them more than they will ever know!
